Mama Dance of Cape Town Appointed a Canadian Agent in 2006 That Took 20 to 50 Per Cent of Every Licence Fee It Placed. The Terms Exist Only in Three SEC Annual Reports Distribution, Licensing Mama Dance Music Library, DittyBase Technologies Inc. Not disclosed No consideration, advance, minimum guarantee or fee figure for this arrangement appears in any DittyBase filing. What the filings do disclose is the commission structure that governed it: the agent took "a percentage of license fees per production ranging from 20-50%", with "Payment terms are 60 days after the end of each quarter". A second, unquantified revenue line runs the other way: "Music libraries pay fees to the Company based on products or services provided." The filings do not say whether Mama Dance paid any such fee. Nothing in the record permits a deal value to be stated. Document
Nigeria Committed $200m of Afreximbank Money to Its Creative Sector in 2024. Its Own Minister Says It Has Still Not Been Disbursed. Investment African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy (FMACTCE) USD USD 200,000,000, stated as a financing commitment, not a disbursement. CRITICAL QUALIFICATION: this figure appears only in Afreximbank's own announcement of 3 October 2024 and in ministerial statements and press coverage repeating it. It does NOT appear anywhere in the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy's own 15-page CEDF Roll-Out Strategy Communication, read in full for this record, which states no fund size at all. It also does not appear in the federal information ministry's own press release announcing the FEC approval, which names no amount and does not mention Afreximbank. No audited or officially published capitalisation figure for the CEDF vehicle exists on the public record as of 4 October 2026. Separately, applications received in the first 30 days of the Phase 1 call sought a combined USD 326,000,000, more than the announced facility. Document

MTN Group Acquired Simfy Africa in November 2018. Its FY2024 Accounts Still Carry the Music-Streaming Company as a 100 Per Cent Subsidiary, Though Neither Consumer App Built on It Has Survived. MTN Group, Simfy Africa Not disclosed Not disclosed. Neither MTN Group's 20 February 2019 newsroom release, its 2018 Integrated Report, nor its FY2024 Annual Financial Statements state a purchase price, consideration structure or goodwill figure attached to Simfy. This desk searched for a Johannesburg Stock Exchange SENS announcement naming the transaction and found none; the JSE's public SENS search does not offer free full-text access to its entire historical archive, so the absence of a result from an open search is not proof no SENS announcement exists, only the limit of what this desk could check. JSE Listings Requirements require a SENS announcement once a transaction crosses defined categorisation thresholds relative to the acquirer's market capitalisation; MTN Group's scale at the time (a JSE-listed group with revenue in the tens of billions of rand) makes it plausible that an undisclosed-price acquisition of a streaming start-up fell below that threshold, but this desk makes no finding on the categorisation itself, only notes that no public filing was located. Sony and the IFC Named Music a Priority for African Creative Capital. Three Years Later, Zero Music Deals Have Followed Investment Sony Group Corporation, International Finance Corporation USD Not disclosed for the IFC-Sony cooperation agreement itself. Sony separately disclosed a US$10,000,000 total commitment to Sony Innovation Fund: Africa, its own wholly funded vehicle, announced the day before the cooperation agreement. Individual ticket sizes for the fund's three disclosed investments (Carry1st, Filmmakers Mart, Twiva) were not disclosed by any party; Sony Ventures Corporation has stated expected ticket sizes of US$250,000 to US$1,000,000 for the fund generally. Akazoo S.A., Akazoo Limited, Akazoo Ghana, Modern Media Acquisition Corp., InternetQ Group Limited, Minimob Limited, Tosca Penta Music Limited Partnership USD $54.8 million into the company at closing: $14.2 million rolled over from Modern Media Acquisition Corp. shareholders and $40.6 million from a PIPE offering of Akazoo shares and convertible warrants, per paragraphs 2, 15 and 18 of the SEC complaint. No price was paid for African assets and no African asset was acquired. Separately, $38.8 million in disgorgement was ordered against Akazoo S.A. on 27 October 2021, deemed satisfied by a $35 million payment to investors in related private litigation. The implied enterprise value of the combination is not stated in the filings reached by this desk and is recorded as not disclosed. Document

Spotify Named a South African Subsidiary in Its 2018 SEC Filing. It Has Named No African Entity Since. Spotify Technology S.A., Spotify AB Not disclosed, and no consideration is evidenced by any source obtained. No purchase price, subscription amount, share capital figure, advance, royalty rate or revenue split appears in any filing, exhibit or statement reviewed.

No source obtained establishes how Spotify South Africa came into the group at all. It may have been incorporated by the group rather than acquired from anyone. Nothing in any Spotify filing describes its formation, its acquisition, its capitalisation, its share capital or its disposal. The absence of a figure here is not a redaction and not an estimate withheld: there is no transaction document, and this desk located nothing that describes a transaction.

The only financial figure this desk can attach to Spotify's African disclosure is a negative one. Across eight annual reports from FY2018 to FY2025, totalling over 5.2 million characters of text, there is no disclosed revenue figure, user figure, subscriber figure or operating result for Africa, for any African country, or for any region containing Africa. Spotify does not report an African segment.

Neville Records credited as owner of “Machala” master on the single’s September 2022 retail release Licensing Neville Records Not disclosed. No settlement value, advance, royalty rate, revenue split or any other financial term is evidenced by any source obtained. No contract, filing or statement from any party discloses consideration.

The figure of 100,000 naira appears in the record and must not be read as a deal value. It is a disputed allegation made by one side only: in a published interview of 15 September 2022, Berri Tiga said that after a split had been discussed, "I got a call from Sydney talker and Carter the next day telling me that they are going to pay me off" with one hundred thousand naira, which he rejected. A separate published report repeats the allegation that Carter Efe and Sydney Talker offered Berri Tiga "the sum of a hundred thousand naira to pay him off for the song." No party has confirmed that any such payment was offered, accepted or made. It is not the value of this or any transaction and is recorded here only so the figure is not mistaken for one.
