Epic Records is a United States recorded-music label operating as a division of Sony Music Entertainment, itself a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation. It signs artists directly and also takes exclusive licences of recordings owned by third-party labels, the structure used for its relationship with South African artist Tyla.
Epic is a Sony Music Entertainment division. Chairperson and CEO Sylvia Rhone and president Ezekiel Lewis were named in trade coverage current as of 2024; those titles were not re-verified for 2026.
Epic holds an exclusive licence to Tyla’s recorded output from Johannesburg and New York based FAX Records, a relationship announced in May 2021 and still stated on the phonogram line of her second album, released 24 July 2026. Tyla appeared in Epic’s own artist roster grid, which held 53 entries as read on 23 August 2026.
