- DATED BY THE REGISTER, ANNOUNCED BY NOBODY. The last registration placing Mavin Global Holdings at a Warner Chappell address was made on 25 July 2025. The first placing it at a Universal Music Publishing Group address was made on 25 September 2025. The change in the register therefore falls in a sixty-two day window between those two dates. This dates the filing behaviour, not the underlying agreement, which may have been signed at any earlier point.
THE SWITCH TRAILS THE CORPORATE ACQUISITION BY MORE THAN A YEAR. Universal Music Group's UMG SPV Holdings Limited acquired the issued share capital of Mavin Global Holdings Limited on 31 May 2024, established from the Companies House persons with significant control register and the audited group accounts filed 18 August 2025, and recorded by this desk separately. Mavin's US publishing filings continued to run through Warner Chappell entities for approximately fourteen months after that completion date.
THE SOUND RECORDINGS TELL A THIRD STORY. A search of the register for the album title "Rave & Roses Ultra" returns exactly one registration, SR0001010023, made 24 June 2024 as a group registration of twenty tracks under 37 C.F.R. 202.4(k), with the date of first publication for the album given as 28 April 2023 and the nation of first publication given as the United States. Its sole copyright claimant is recorded as "Amschel Mayer James de Rothschild II, 1976- . Address: 77 S Washington Street, Seattle, WA, 98104, United States", with Rights and Permissions given as Amschel Records LLC at the same address. He is additionally recorded on the application as an author of the sound recordings, under the pseudonym "Amschel, Kon, Party", alongside Rema, Selena Gomez on track 15 and Chris Brown on track 6. No Mavin, Jonzing World, Virgin or Universal entity appears anywhere on that registration. The commercial phonogram line for the same album reads "℗ 2023 Mavin Records / Jonzing World", and MusicBrainz records the release labels as Mavin Records and Jonzing World. The register and the commercial credit do not agree.
THE SAME CLAIMANT APPEARS ON TWENTY-FIVE REGISTRATIONS. A register search on the name returns twenty-five registrations, all in Class SR, all registrations rather than recordations. Album titles among them include "Certified Loverboy", "Anti", "Care Package", "Dark Lane Demo Tapes Plus", "The Marathon Continues", "Almost Healed" and "Rave & Roses Ultra". On SR0000963729, titled "Works Published on the Album Certified Loverboy", the claimant address is given as 1765 La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles, the publisher label number is given as "Amschel Records", the date of first publication for the album is given as 14 June 2016, and the record carries the note "C.O. correspondence."
MAVIN HAS ALMOST NO SOUND RECORDING REGISTRATIONS OF ITS OWN. A register search on "Mavin Global Holdings" returns ten registrations in total. Eight are Class PA compositions. The two Class SR entries are "Take It To The Top" (Becky G / Ayra Starr, ISRC USUM72308672) and "Brought The Family" (Jon Bellion / Ayra Starr, ISRC USUG12600527), both features on third-party releases carrying Universal ISRC prefixes. This desk found no Class SR registration filed by Mavin or Jonzing World over their own catalogue.

It does not cover the sound recording, which is registered in Class SR and which carries a separate and different ownership history for these titles.
ON TWO WORKS, WARNER CHAPPELL IS A CLAIMANT IN ITS OWN RIGHT. On "Calm Down" (PA0002435681, registered 22 September 2023, published 11 February 2022) the copyright claimants of record are Michael Ovie Hunter, Mavin Global Holdings Limited, and Warner Chappell Music LTD of 777 S Santa Fe Ave, Los Angeles. Each is recorded with the basis "Transfer: By written agreement". On "2 Sugar" (PA0002435676, registered 22 September 2023, published 11 November 2022) the claimants are Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, Warner Chappell Music LTD, and Mavin Global Holdings Limited. Under 37 C.F.R. 202.3(a)(3) a copyright claimant is either the author or a party that has obtained ownership of all rights under the copyright that initially belonged to the author, so a claimant entry is an assertion of ownership of a share, not merely of administration.
ON THE OTHERS, WARNER CHAPPELL APPEARS AS THE ADDRESS, WHICH IS ADMINISTRATION, NOT OWNERSHIP. On "Bloody Samaritan" (PA0002435707, registered 22 September 2023, published 30 July 2021) and on "SOWETO (WITH DON TOLIVER, REMA & TEMPOE)" (PA0002551614, registered 25 July 2025, published 22 March 2023), Warner Chappell is not itself a claimant. Mavin Global Holdings Limited is the claimant, and its address of record is given care of Warner Chappell Music LTD, later care of WC Music Corp., at the same 777 S Santa Fe Ave address. On "Bloody Samaritan" the Rights and Permissions contact is a named Warner Chappell copyright department employee at warnerchappell.com. A care-of address and a rights-and-permissions contact identify who handles the copyright, which is administration. This desk draws no ownership inference from them.
THE ADDRESS THEN MOVES TO UNIVERSAL. On "BUBALU" (PA0002561534, registered 25 September 2025), "Time N Affection" (PA0002570051, registered 5 November 2025) and "VILLAIN" (PA0002605111, registered 30 March 2026), Mavin Global Holdings Ltd. is recorded care of Universal Music Publishing Group, 1550 W McEwen Drive, Suite 400, Franklin, TN 37067, and the Rights and Permissions contact on each is Universal Music Publishing Group at nacopyright@umusic.com. On those three filings Divine Ikubor, Rema's legal name, is also recorded as a claimant at the same Universal address, in his own name rather than through Mavin.
THE REMIX IS A SEPARATE AND NARROWER CLAIM. "Calm Down (feat. Selena Gomez)" is registered as PA0002544568, made 8 January 2024 for a work published 25 August 2022, citing PA0002435681 as the previous registration. Its sole copyright claimant is SMG Tunes, recorded "Transfer: By written agreement", care of Universal Music Publishing Group. Authorship on the application is lyrics only, by Selena Gomez. Material excluded from the claim is stated as music and lyrics. The remix registration therefore adds a claim over new lyrics and does nothing to the ownership of the underlying song.
EARLIEST FILING CARRIES NO PUBLISHER ADDRESS. On "WAKE UP" (PA0002398075, registered 1 February 2023, published 4 November 2022) the claimants are Marvel Comics Music a.a.d.o. Marvel Music, Inc. of 500 S. Buena Vista Street, Burbank, Mavin Global Holdings Limited, and Emoseh Khamofu. Mavin's address is given as "street not known, city not known", so this filing places Mavin with neither publisher.

Read this before citing: WHAT THIS RECORD DOES NOT ESTABLISH, AND WHY.
FIRST, NO TERMS AND NO PRICE. No consideration, royalty rate, advance, term or territory for any Mavin publishing agreement appears in any document obtained. No party has announced such an agreement. This desk publishes no figure and no term.
SECOND, THE REGISTER IS A RECORD OF CLAIMS, NOT AN ADJUDICATION. The Copyright Office examines applications for formal sufficiency. It does not investigate competing ownership claims and it does not decide who owns a work. Under 17 U.S.C. 410(c), a certificate constitutes prima facie evidence of the validity of the copyright and of the facts stated in the certificate only where registration is made within five years of first publication, and even then the evidentiary weight is for a court to determine and the presumption is rebuttable. Nothing in this record is a finding that any registration is false, and this desk makes no allegation of wrongdoing, bad faith or intent against any named person. This desk did not contact the claimant on SR0001010023 and could not establish the basis of that claim, whether it has been challenged, or whether the Office has since corrected or cancelled it.
THIRD, THE SHARE SPLITS ARE NOT IN THE DOCUMENTS. A copyright claimant entry names a party claiming an ownership interest. It does not state what percentage that party holds. The split between Warner Chappell Music LTD, Mavin Global Holdings Limited and the individual writer claimants on "Calm Down" and "2 Sugar" could not be established from the register, and no other document obtained states it.
FOURTH, A CARE-OF ADDRESS IS EVIDENCE OF ADMINISTRATION, NOT OF OWNERSHIP, AND THE REGISTER IS NOT UPDATED WHEN A DEAL ENDS. A registration is a snapshot at the date of filing. The Warner Chappell addresses on the 2023 and July 2025 filings remain on those records permanently and do not indicate that the relationship subsists today. Equally, the Universal addresses on the later filings do not establish that the earlier works moved.
FIFTH, NO ANNOUNCEMENT WAS FOUND. This desk checked the Warner Chappell newsroom and searched trade coverage for any announcement of a publishing agreement covering Mavin or Rema and found none. Absence of an announcement is not evidence that no agreement exists. Publishing administration deals are frequently unannounced.
SIXTH, PRO REPERTORY WAS NOT SEARCHED. This record does not draw on ASCAP, BMI, PRS or MCSK repertory databases. Those would give share splits and society-level administrator names and would be the natural next step.
SEVENTH, THE PUBLISHING POSITION FOR THE UMG ACQUISITION IS UNRESOLVED. The Companies House documents recording the 31 May 2024 share acquisition do not itemise publishing interests, and this desk could not establish from any document whether publishing copyrights sat inside Mavin Global Holdings Limited at completion.
Eight registrations in the United States federal copyright register name MAVIN GLOBAL HOLDINGS LIMITED as a copyright claimant on musical compositions. Read in order of registration date, they record a change in which publishing company handles the company’s US copyright filings, and on two of the works they record Warner Chappell Music LTD as a claimant in its own right.
No party has announced a publishing agreement between Mavin and Warner Chappell, or between Mavin and Universal Music Publishing Group. This record sets out only what the register states, with the limits of that evidence noted in full.
