Five Star Music is the Lagos label built around Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo, the singer known as KCee, and run day to day by his younger brother Emeka Okonkwo, known professionally as E-Money. Industry directories and contemporary Nigerian press date its founding to 2010, a year before KCee’s hip-hop duo with Presh, KC Presh, had fully wound down. The label’s commercial breakthrough came in 2013 with KCee’s solo single “Limpopo,” and it went on to sign Harrysong and Skiibii before both artists later departed, leaving KCee as its flagship and effectively only active act through its most recent releases, the 2024 album “Versatile” and the 2025 album “Okonkwo and Sons Unlimited.”
This desk verifies Five Star Music here because its own commercial release catalogue, read directly from Apple Music’s phonogram credit lines, is the evidence behind a separate finding: a single 2024 release in that catalogue substitutes the London company NWS Music Group for the Nigerian label’s usual distributor credit, a change with no public explanation from either company.
