Apple catalogue metadata for Tyler ICU (artist id 1408283553), pulled 21 September 2026, returns 108 collections on the South African storefront and 109 on the United States storefront. All 108 collections common to both storefronts carry identical phonogram text. The lists below are exhaustive for this catalogue as pulled on that date.

Sony Music Entertainment Africa (Pty) Ltd is named on 39 of the 108 South African collections. On 19 the co-named label is New Money Gang Records, on 12 it is Baby Blue Entertainment, and on 8 it is another South African label on releases where Tyler ICU is a featured rather than lead artist. On none of the 39 is Sony Music Entertainment Africa named as sole or outright owner.

TWO RELEASES ON THE SAME DAY USE THE TWO DIFFERENT FORMULATIONS. Mnike and iThuba both carry a release date of 28 April 2023. Mnike names Sony Music Entertainment Africa as phonogram rightsholder under exclusive licence from New Money Gang Records. iThuba names New Money Gang Records as phonogram rightsholder, exclusively distributed under Sony Music Entertainment Africa. No source located explains the difference. Across the whole catalogue the two forms alternate with no chronological or release-type pattern this desk could identify.

THE LICENSOR CHANGED, AND THE TWO OVERLAPPED. The earliest New Money Gang Records credit in this catalogue is 1 May 2020 and the latest is 8 May 2025, the Ke Wave EP. The earliest Baby Blue Entertainment credit is 17 November 2023, the original release of Jealousy. The two names therefore run in parallel for roughly 18 months. From 14 July 2025 onward, every release in this catalogue that names Sony Music Entertainment Africa names Baby Blue Entertainment as the counterparty and none names New Money Gang Records.

ONE NEW MONEY GANG CREDIT CARRIES A CORPORATE SUFFIX. Of the 19 New Money Gang credits, only the Ke Wave EP of 8 May 2025 reads "New Money Gang Records (Pty) Ltd". The other 18 read "New Money Gang Records" with no corporate form. That single suffixed credit is also the last New Money Gang credit in the catalogue.

TWO RELEASES SIT OUTSIDE THE SONY LINE. Wa Hemba (Piano Version), 28 February 2025, is credited "Baby Blue Entertainment / Gifted Sounds Africa" with no Sony entity named. Jealousy (KIDFLO and Kotto Remix), 26 June 2025, is credited "Untitled Audio" with neither Sony nor Baby Blue named, despite the three other Jealousy products all running through Baby Blue Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment Africa.

LICENSING IN IS THIS SUBSIDIARY'S HOUSE FORM. It is not a statement of the contractual territory of the underlying distribution or licence agreement, and this desk does not read it as one.

The releases themselves are available beyond South Africa. The identical phonogram text appears on the United States storefront for all 108 collections common to both storefronts. No source located states the contractual territory or term of any agreement between Sony Music Entertainment Africa (Pty) Ltd and either New Money Gang Records or Baby Blue Entertainment.

Read this before citing: THIS RECORD DOES NOT ESTABLISH A CONTRACT. It establishes a phonogram credit history for Tyler ICU's catalogue from May 2020 to August 2026. A phonogram line records who asserts copyright in a specific sound recording as delivered to a store. It does not by itself establish whether masters were assigned, licensed, or left with the artist, and it is not evidence of the term, territory or economics of any agreement.

THE TWO LABELS MAY COVER DIFFERENT BODIES OF WORK RATHER THAN SUCCEED ONE ANOTHER. Of the 19 New Money Gang Records credits, 16 are releases on which Tyler ICU is the lead or joint-lead billed artist, including both of his own projects, the album Lucent and the Ke Wave EP. Of the 13 Baby Blue Entertainment credits, only 2 are Tyler ICU lead releases and 11 are releases led by other artists on which he appears. That split is consistent with the purpose the producer gave for the label in a January 2025 interview, in which he described Baby Blue as a vehicle for signing and mentoring upcoming artists rather than for his own records. It therefore cannot be concluded from the credit line alone that Baby Blue Entertainment replaced New Money Gang Records as licensor of the same catalogue. The competing reading, that the two labels have always served different functions, is equally consistent with the evidence, with the qualification that the only two Tyler ICU lead releases to carry the Baby Blue credit both fall after the last New Money Gang credit of 8 May 2025.

THE SAME RECORDING CARRIES TWO DIFFERENT PHONOGRAM CLAIMANTS. Drip Drip Juluka appears as two Apple products. Product 1527271945, release date 22 July 2020, present on the United States storefront only, is credited "2020 Piano Hub (PTY) LTD". Product 1679756557, release date 24 July 2020, present on both the United States and South African storefronts, is credited "2020 South Africa – New Money Gang Records, exclusively distributed under Sony Music Entertainment Africa (Pty) Ltd". Both are single-track products of the same song. Which claim is correct, and whether one supersedes the other, could not be established. Piano Hub (Pty) Ltd is separately documented on this site as a Sony Music Entertainment Africa licensor.

TWO CREDIT FORMULATIONS ARE USED INTERCHANGEABLY. "Label, exclusively distributed under Sony" and "Sony, under exclusive licence from label" describe materially different legal positions on who holds the phonogram right. Both appear across the same catalogue, including on two releases dated the same day, 28 April 2023. This desk does not treat the alternation as evidence that the underlying agreement changed. It is recorded because it makes the credit line an unreliable guide to the legal position, which is itself the finding.

A REMIX OF A BABY BLUE RECORDING IS CREDITED TO A THIRD PARTY. Jealousy (KIDFLO and Kotto Remix), 26 June 2025, is credited "2025 Untitled Audio" alone. The three other Jealousy products name Baby Blue Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment Africa. No source states whether this is a separate licence, a remixer-held master, or a metadata error.

THE LABEL'S NAME IS UNSETTLED ACROSS SOURCES. The phonogram credit reads "Baby Blue Entertainment (Pty) Ltd" from 17 November 2023. The January 2025 interview names the label Baby Blue and Baby Blue Records and describes it as "now up and running", which sits awkwardly with a credit line that had been running for fourteen months by then. This desk uses the form that appears on the credit line.

REGISTRY SOURCES DIVERGE ON THE SAME RELEASE. For Mnike, released 28 April 2023: the Deezer album endpoint for product 428417437, UPC 196871045292, returns a label field of "New Money Gang Records" alone with no Sony reference. MusicBrainz release 5018e520-d743-42a4-94e6-cbb310915168 returns label-info naming both "Sony Music" and "New Money Gang". The Apple credit names Sony Music Entertainment Africa (Pty) Ltd as the phonogram holder under exclusive licence from New Money Gang Records. These are three renderings of one commercial arrangement at three levels of detail and should not be read as three conflicting ownership claims, but they cannot be quoted interchangeably.

MUSICBRAINZ RECORDS THE RELEASE COUNTRY AS WORLDWIDE. The same MusicBrainz release carries a release-event area of [Worldwide], ISO code XW, while the Apple phonogram line for the identical release is prefixed "South Africa -". This supports reading that prefix as part of the copyright notice rather than as a statement of distribution territory.

SONY'S OWN ARTIST PAGE NAMES NO LABEL. The Sony Music UK artist page for Tyler ICU, fetched and read in full on 21 September 2026, carries a biography that stops at the 2020 Money Heist project and names no label, imprint or licensor anywhere. It therefore neither confirms nor contradicts the credit line.

OWNERSHIP OF NEITHER LABEL IS ESTABLISHED. Whether New Money Gang Records or Baby Blue Entertainment (Pty) Ltd is owned by Tyler ICU personally, jointly with others, or held some other way, could not be established. South Africa's CIPC company registry has no public search API available to this desk. MusicBrainz holds a label entity for New Money Gang (MBID 8a061761-09d6-460e-a070-f685c5b8ebc6) with no country, type, label code or life span recorded, and a label search for "Baby Blue Entertainment" returned zero entities.

NO ANNOUNCEMENT EXISTS. No press release, newsroom item or statement from Sony Music Entertainment Africa (Pty) Ltd, New Money Gang Records or Baby Blue Entertainment announcing a signing, a transfer, an expiry or a change of licensor was located. Tyler ICU’s catalogue has been distributed by Sony Music Entertainment Africa (Pty) Ltd since May 2020. Across that period the phonogram credit has named two different licensors. New Money Gang Records ran from 1 May 2020 to 8 May 2025. Baby Blue Entertainment (Pty) Ltd first appears on 17 November 2023, and from 14 July 2025 onward it is the only licensor named. No announcement of that change was located from any of the three parties.

This record documents a credit history, not a contract. A phonogram line records who asserts copyright in a sound recording as delivered to a store. It does not establish whether masters were assigned, licensed back, or never left the artist.

Method

Apple’s catalogue lookup for Tyler ICU (artist id 1408283553) was pulled on 21 September 2026 from both the South African and the United States storefronts. The South African storefront returned 108 collections, the United States storefront 109. Every one of the 108 collections present on both storefronts carries a byte-identical phonogram line. The single extra United States entry is dealt with below, because it contradicts the South African record.

Of the 108 South African collections, 42 contain the word Sony. Thirty-nine of those name Sony Music Entertainment Africa (Pty) Ltd specifically: 19 alongside New Money Gang Records, 12 alongside Baby Blue Entertainment, and 8 alongside a different South African label on releases where Tyler ICU is a featured rather than lead artist. The remaining three name Sony entities outside Africa, two through Robots & Humans Limited, a division of Sony Music Entertainment UK Limited, and one through Epic Records.

What the documents establish

Sony Music Entertainment Africa (Pty) Ltd is named on 39 of these credits and on none of them is it named as sole rightsholder. On each line it is either the distributor of a master held by a third party, or the holder of a phonogram right acquired under an exclusive licence from a third party. Neither formulation describes an outright purchase of the recordings.

The licensor changed. From 1 May 2020 to 8 May 2025 that third party was New Money Gang Records. From 17 November 2023 a second name, Baby Blue Entertainment (Pty) Ltd, runs in parallel. After 8 May 2025 no release in this catalogue names New Money Gang Records again.

The two forms are not chronological and not release-type specific. Mnike and iThuba were both released on 28 April 2023 and use opposite forms. Within the New Money Gang period, label-first and Sony-first alternate across 2020 to 2025 with no visible pattern.

On releases where Tyler ICU is a featured player rather than the lead, Sony Music Entertainment Africa licenses in from other South African labels on the same two templates: Piano Hub (Pty) Ltd, Gumba Fire Records (Pty) Ltd, Anolabex (Pty) Ltd and Gipa Entertainment all appear as licensors or as distributed labels. Licensing in from an independent label is the house form for this Sony subsidiary, not an arrangement specific to Tyler ICU.

The two labels are not carrying the same kind of work

Of the 19 New Money Gang Records credits, 16 are releases on which Tyler ICU is the lead or joint-lead billed artist. Both of his own projects sit there: the album Lucent and the Ke Wave EP. Of the 13 Baby Blue Entertainment credits, only 2 are Tyler ICU lead releases and 11 are records led by other artists on which he appears.

That split matters for how the change should be read. It is consistent with the account the producer gave in a January 2025 interview, where he described the label as a vehicle for signing and mentoring upcoming artists rather than for his own records. On that reading the two names never succeeded one another at all, they were always doing different jobs.

The qualification is that the only two Tyler ICU lead releases carrying the Baby Blue credit, Same Time on 26 September 2025 and Fada Xmas Akekho on 23 January 2026, both fall after the last New Money Gang credit of 8 May 2025. His own-name work does now run through Baby Blue. Whether that is a transfer, an expiry, or simply the absence of any new own-name release through the older vehicle cannot be determined from the credit line.

Contradictions found

The same recording carries two different phonogram claimants. Drip Drip Juluka appears twice in Apple’s catalogue. Product 1527271945, dated 22 July 2020 and present only on the United States storefront, is credited Piano Hub (PTY) LTD. Product 1679756557, dated 24 July 2020 and present on both storefronts, is credited South Africa – New Money Gang Records, exclusively distributed under Sony Music Entertainment Africa (Pty) Ltd. Both are single-track releases of the same song. Which claim is correct could not be established.

Only one New Money Gang credit carries a corporate suffix. Of the 19 New Money Gang credits, only the Ke Wave EP of 8 May 2025 reads “New Money Gang Records (Pty) Ltd”. That is also the last New Money Gang credit in the catalogue, and it falls 18 months after Baby Blue Entertainment first appeared.

A remix of a Baby Blue recording is credited elsewhere. Jealousy exists in four Apple products. Three name Baby Blue Entertainment with Sony Africa. The KIDFLO and Kotto Remix of 26 June 2025 is credited simply Untitled Audio, with no Sony or Baby Blue reference.

The label’s own name is unsettled. The credit line reads “Baby Blue Entertainment (Pty) Ltd” from November 2023. In a January 2025 interview the producer named the label Baby Blue and Baby Blue Records and described it as now up and running. The credit predates that description by fourteen months.

Three registries describe the same release differently. For Mnike, released 28 April 2023, UPC 196871045292: the Deezer album record returns a label field of “New Money Gang Records” alone with no Sony reference at all. The prefix belongs to the copyright notice, not to the distribution footprint.

Sony’s own artist page names no label. The Sony Music UK page for Tyler ICU, read in full on 21 September 2026, carries a biography that stops at the 2020 Money Heist project and names no imprint or licensor anywhere. It neither confirms nor contradicts the credit line.

What the documents do not establish

No document located states whether the recordings credited to New Money Gang Records were reassigned, whether that licence expired, or whether the two labels simply cover different bodies of work. No consideration of any kind is named in any source. No announcement of the change was made by Sony Music Entertainment Africa, New Money Gang Records or Baby Blue Entertainment.

Ownership of neither label is established. South Africa’s CIPC company registry has no public search API available to this desk.
