Read this before citing: This is a licensing arrangement for recorded masters on the evidence checked, not a signing of Oxlade personally to an American major, and not an acquisition, a catalogue sale or an investment. Four points stand. First, phonogram credit lines on 22 own-artist releases checked across the Nigerian, US and UK Apple Music storefronts, corroborated by a Deezer album label field reading "Troniq Inc" (UPC 196872982183), consistently name TRONIQ INC. or Troniq Music Limited as the rights holder of Oxlade's masters from at least 27 March 2020, the single "AWAY," through 4 April 2025, the deluxe edition of "OFA," with Epic Records France, and later Sony Music Entertainment France SAS, recorded only as the party the masters are "under exclusive licence to." That is licensee language. Second, none of the three trade stories published 9 to 10 March 2022 name Troniq Music at all; two frame Epic Records as an American label and Columbia Records as a direct party welcoming or servicing the deal, and only one, cited as the primary source for this record, specifies a French arm of Epic. Third, Columbia Records does not appear in any of the 22 own-artist release credits checked, despite being named in all three announcement stories and tagged directly, alongside Epic Records and Sony Music, in the Twitter post embedded in one of them. Fourth, and as a limit on the method used: phonogram credit lines record whatever a platform currently has on file for a release, not necessarily the terms in force at original release, so earlier catalogue carries different, earlier credit lines including "Oxlade Music," "Oxlade Music, distributed by Plug Music," and, on a January 2020 single released two months before the announcement, "YBNL Nation/Oxlade Music," none of which were tested against the terms of this deal. Separately, the corporate identity of the licensor could not be fully resolved: credits alternate between "TRONIQ INC." and "Troniq Music Limited," and the only UK company match found, TRONIQ LTD, company number 11686472, was incorporated 20 November 2018 and dissolved 27 October 2020, before several releases that carry the "Troniq Music Limited" credit, so whether the dissolved UK entity and the entity credited today are the same company could not be established.
