South African rapper, singer and producer Scumie has released the official music video for “Canned Milk,” the visual companion to her track “TRACK2.” The Johannesburg-born artist, whose real name is Zamazitha Mnqandi, announced the release with a direct message to fans: “TRACK2 – CANNED MILK MV. Out now.”
The video extends the run of her 066 series, which has positioned her as a distinctive independent voice in South Africa. Her 2025 project, 066, Vol. 3, highlighted her lyricism, atmospheric production and a style that crosses alternative hip-hop, punk and emo-rap.
Visual style and catalogue
“Canned Milk” adds to that catalogue with the rawness and experimental approach central to her sound. Scumie has not detailed the video’s concept, but it follows a visual style seen in earlier releases.
- VHS-inspired “Shots”
- “Prayer 2 Myself”
- “Burberry”
Those videos leaned into energetic performances and DIY-inspired aesthetics, helping Scumie build a distinct sonic and visual identity.
Independent path
Scumie began producing music at 14 and turned to rapping during the lockdown period. She built an audience through SoundCloud releases and later collaborated with artists including Nadia Nakai, Yungboyvegeta and Lowfeye. She has also performed on platforms such as Cotton Fest.
Beyond music, Scumie has encouraged female artists to create on their own terms and pursue ambitions without waiting for industry approval.
