South African rapper Nasty C has said his label Tall Racks would offer Sammie Heavens a recording deal if she chooses to join the company, while making clear that the decision rests with her.
He made the comments during a conversation with Scoop Makhathini, who asked whether Sammie, now making music, would be signed to Tall Racks. Nasty C confirmed the opportunity would be available to her.
“Yeah, we’re definitely gonna offer her all those things, but if she chooses anything else, that’s totally fine,” Nasty C said.
Scoop then jokingly asked whether Sammie’s musical abilities had rubbed off on her through their relationship. Nasty C said her creativity existed long before they became a couple.
Sammie Heavens’ path into music#
Nasty C said Sammie was already a writer before they met and had a strong background in poetry. He recalled how she would watch him take part in freestyle cyphers during school breaks, where he and his peers spent hours rapping.
“She’s been a writer. She was a writer before she met me, before I met her,” he said, adding that she “used to go crazy on the poems.”
He described her development into a hybrid artist who combined poetry with rap before expanding into singing. He said her current sound feels natural to her.
“I saw one of her clips, and I’m like, wow,” he said, recalling an earlier verse she performed. “Now she’s rapping and singing.”
Nasty C denies writing for her#
Nasty C also addressed speculation that he writes music for Sammie, rejecting the idea.
“A lot of people think I write for her. I do not,” he said.
Tall Racks has indicated it would bring her into its roster, leaving the next step in her music career to her.
