Part of Suno’s licensing deal with Warner Music Group last November involved acquiring concert-discovery platform Songkick. It felt like a strange quirk at the time – what does an AI music-generating platform have to do with live gigs? – but now we’ll find out how this seemingly odd-couple relationship will work. Suno has created a new department called Suno Live Experiences, and ex-Ticketmaster VP Michael Chua will lead it as VP and general manager. Part of Chua’s job will be overseeing Songkick. Suno is pitching itself hard as a platform for creatives and for people who enjoy their work. It has also made a lot of noise about how it aims to assist the emerging (human) artists who use Suno’s AI tools to make music. Suno’s chief music officer Paul Sinclair said that the aim was to make Suno “the first creative entertainment platform,” so perhaps the vision is a one-stop-shop of AI-powered music creation, branding, streaming, audience connection – and, now, a pathway to live experiences too.
