Icelandic Singer Laufey Signs With Interscope and Verve

Icelandic singer-songwriter Laufey has signed with Universal Music Group's Interscope Records and Verve Records after six years as an independent artist.

Laufey

Two-time Grammy-winning Icelandic singer-songwriter Laufey has signed with Universal Music Group’s Interscope Records and Verve Records, a dual-label arrangement aligned with her work across pop and jazz.

The signing follows six years as an independent artist. During that period, Laufey accumulated more than 7 billion combined global streams across three studio albums and reached a series of career milestones.

  • Named one of Time’s 2025 Women of the Year
  • Honored as an Icelandic Knight by Iceland’s president
  • Published her first children’s book, "Mei Mei the Bunny," which became a New York Times Bestseller
  • Performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the National Symphony Orchestra and the China Philharmonic Orchestra
  • Completed a large-scale global tour

Recent Recognition and Live Performances#

In 2024, Laufey received the Crossover Artist of the Year award at the annual Hitmakers event. The award was presented by British singer Raye, a close friend.

Her 2024 Hollywood Bowl performance drew an audience that was largely under 30, with many attendees under 25. At the Coachella festival in April, her set included a jazz group, a string quartet and a troupe of dancers, and she performed on piano, guitar and cello.

Laufey is currently at work on new music.

A Very Laufey Day and Foundation#

Laufey also recently held the fourth annual "A Very Laufey Day", curating events in 75 cities across more than 25 countries. The program included live performances and events in museums, libraries, bookstores, cafes, coffee shops, yogurt and ice cream shops, among other venues.

All proceeds from brand collaborations and merchandise sales tied to the event went to the Laufey Foundation, which works to make education and resources more accessible to young musicians.
