Even has introduced Even Studio, a white-label direct-to-consumer (D2C) product that lets artists sell music, merchandise and experiences on their own domains. The product can support album pre-orders, tour announcements and exclusive merchandise drops, and it expands the company’s existing artist commerce tools beyond its own mobile apps and website.
Albums are a central use case for the new product. Artists can sell pre-orders that unlock up to four tracks for buyers before release. All sales are reported to Luminate, the industry research firm, and count toward US charts.
What Even Studio includes#
- Album pre-orders that unlock up to four tracks before release
- Sales reporting to Luminate for US chart eligibility
- Livestream hosting
- Fan community tools
Even said the goal is to give artists a single owned destination for fans, rather than leaving audiences fragmented across streaming and social platforms.
"Studio gives artists a destination of their own. That means a fan can buy an album and start hearing it immediately, while the artist can build toward release day and chart impact," said CEO Mag Rodriguez. "But Studio is much bigger than an album. It gives artists a place to bring whatever they want to create directly to their fans."
Rodriguez said the product is not "another platform to manage." He described it as "a product we build and operate for them. The artist brings the creative vision and decides what they want to give their fans. We provide the product and infrastructure to make it happen."
At launch, Even Studio is an invitation-only service for artists and their teams.
Early artist campaigns#
Joey Bada$$ is among the latest artists to use Even’s platform, offering a signed vinyl record of his Lonely At The Top mixtape to mark its first anniversary. BigXThaPlug launched a pre-order for his album Better Over Time on his own domain ahead of its 30 October release, with two tracks unlocked when fans buy.
Earlier this year, Rodriguez appeared with artist LaRussell and manager Tietta Mitchell to discuss LaRussell selling nearly $500k of albums in 16 days on Even, driven by months of livestreams and other promotion.
The launch of Even Studio extends that model to artists who want to sell directly to fans on their own domains. It will sit alongside the existing Even Marketplace in the company’s offering.
