Ultra International Music Publishing was a New York music publisher founded in 2004 by Patrick Moxey, administering more than 70,000 copyrights for writers and producers including Post Malone, Ed Sheeran and Future. In February 2023 it opened a Lagos creative hub and signed West African songwriters and producers, including Nigerian producer Tejiri Akpoghene.
The company no longer operates under this name. A federal jury in New York found in December 2024 that Ultra Records, LLC, the Sony Music-owned label once co-founded by Moxey, held superior trademark rights to “Ultra,” and on 25 February 2025 US District Judge Arun Subramanian ordered the publisher to stop using the name within 180 days. It rebranded as Payday Music Publishing on 16 April 2025. The company’s UK subsidiary, registered at Companies House as Ultra Music Publishing UK Limited since 17 August 2021, was formally renamed Payday Music Publishing UK Limited on 23 May 2025.
Sony and Payday filed notices dismissing both the trademark case and a related copyright suit on 5 December 2025, describing a “business resolution” with terms not disclosed.
