Shake It Africa is a record label and live-entertainment company launched in August 2026 by Ugandan-born artist Jon Muq and US music executive Kevin Wommack. The company is based between Austin, Texas and Kampala, Uganda, and combines recorded-music releases with concert promotion aimed at connecting African artists with audiences in Europe and North America.
Muq, who records for Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound label in Nashville, co-founded the venture with Wommack, an executive producer whose credits include Los Lonely Boys’ Grammy-winning debut album. The company launched with Muq’s own single “Shake Shake Dance For Me” and has announced a February 2027 compilation, Bantu Muntu, pairing Muq with artists from Uganda, Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria, including Jaywon, Jeff Akoh, Kaesa, Biya, MicPro256, Aziz Azion and Njuguna. On the live side, the company has launched a monthly African-artist residency at Pershing Hall in Austin, with a European showcase planned for the Netherlands in March 2027.
The company is privately held and independent, co-owned by its two founders.
