SACERAU

SACERAU, the Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers, is Egypt’s music collecting society, based in Cairo. It was established in 1944, originally as the first Middle Eastern office of France’s SACEM, and became Egypt’s national body for administering the rights of songwriters, composers and publishers.

It licenses the public performance and reproduction of music, collects and distributes royalties to its members, and operates a pension scheme for creators. It is one of the oldest collecting societies in the Arab world and North Africa.
