Reservoir Media is a music publisher and rights owner founded in 2007 by Golnar Khosrowshahi, who is chief executive. It is based in New York and listed on Nasdaq under RSVR, having gone public in 2021 through a merger with Roth CH Acquisition II. It was the first female-founded and led publicly traded music company in the United States, and represents over 150,000 copyrights and 36,000 master recordings.
Reservoir enters an African directory through Egypt. In 2020 it formed a joint venture with the Abu Dhabi publisher PopArabia, stated as an effort to build the largest holding of Arabic music copyrights. In 2022 the two jointly acquired the Cairo label 100COPIES, an early backer of the mahraganat genre, and formed a further joint venture to sign and develop Egyptian talent. Its African exposure is therefore a catalogue and publishing position in North Africa rather than an operating company on the continent, and it is recorded here on that basis.
