Greencamp is a Lagos-based creative organisation that champions Nigeria’s underground music and creative scene. Co-founded in 2017, it grew out of a conversation about talented artists being shut out of shows for lack of name recognition, and set out to build a platform where community submissions and open audition tryouts, rather than commercial gatekeeping, decide who gets a stage.
The organisation runs the annual Greencamp Festival at Freedom Park in Lagos, now in its tenth year, alongside recurring showcases spanning music, DJ sets, dance and visual art. It operates independently, without known corporate or institutional ownership, and describes itself as community-run.
Greencamp’s significance in the Nigerian market comes from its alumni: artists including BNXN (formerly Buju), MOJO, Straffiti, LaimĂ©, Zilla Oaks and Zaylevelten performed through its platform before wider mainstream recognition, making it one of the more established underground talent pipelines in Lagos’s live circuit.
