The NATIVE is a Lagos music and youth culture publication founded in 2016 by Seni Saraki, Teni Zaccheaus, Olushola Fagbemi, Addy Edgal and Suleiman Shittu. It covers Nigerian and wider African music, style and scene, and has been an early platform for artists working in alte, Afrobeats and amapiano.
The magazine sits inside Native Networks, a multi-platform company whose other arms include Native Records, a Lagos record label founded in 2016 with operations in the United Kingdom, and the NATIVELAND festival, which has programmed early live sets from artists including J Hus and Dave.
It is listed here for the label and festival businesses rather than for the magazine alone. No outside ownership is disclosed on the public record.
