The Bureau Malien du Droit d’Auteur (BUMDA) is Mali’s national copyright body, based in Bamako and created in 1978 under the National Directorate of Arts and Culture. It administers copyright and neighbouring rights for Malian authors, composers and other creators.
It licenses the use of protected works, collects royalties and distributes them to rights holders, and registers works for members. It is the national collecting society for one of West Africa’s most influential music cultures.
