Believe Music Publishing, part of global artist development company Believe, has entered a long-term partnership with United Kingdom-based independent publisher Jack Russell Music.
Under the agreement, Believe Music Publishing will administer the Jack Russell Music catalogue and provide sync services and creative development to the company’s existing and newly signed writers.
Catalogue and sampling legacy
Founded by Clare Ram in 2007, Jack Russell Music represents artists and writers including Vybz Kartel, Sly Dunbar, Brooklyn, Funk Essentials, Michael Oliviere and numerous producers in the reggae and dancehall market, alongside acts spanning rock, folk, world music and pop.
Among its most sampled works is 20th Century Steel Band’s “Heaven And Hell Is On Earth”, released in 1975 and sampled 93 times. The track appears on Jennifer Lopez’s “Jenny From The Block”, Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl”, and recordings by Black Eyed Peas, Mos Def and Grandmaster Flash. Major Lazer’s “Pon De Floor” featuring Vybz Kartel was sampled in Beyoncé’s “Run The World (Girls)” and tracks by Trey Songz and Snoop Lion.
Jack Russell Music published the song “Where Love Lives”, the Alison Limerick 1990s dance anthem written by Lars ‘Lati’ Kronlund, which soundtracked the 2025 John Lewis Christmas advertisement.
