RIKE (Recording Industry of Kenya) is the national trade association representing Kenya’s recorded-music producers. It was registered in 2022 and launched publicly in Nairobi on 9 October 2023, with backing from Sony Music Entertainment Africa, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group.
RIKE is a non-profit, membership-funded association, not a collecting society: it says explicitly that it does not collect royalties. Its work covers policy advocacy for the recorded-music sector, anti-piracy and content-protection efforts, ISRC code administration in coordination with IFPI, and official sales certification and charts. Eric Musyoka of Decimal Records chairs the organisation; Angela Mwandanda is national coordinator. Sauti Sol’s Bien-Aime Alusa sits on its board.
The association is based in Lavington, Nairobi, and represents both major and independent record companies operating in Kenya.
