Nigerian Christian fusion artist David Ruah, formerly known as Morack Official, returns with “Disservice,” a new single that explores faith, personal accountability and the consequences of falling short of one’s responsibilities as a believer.

On “Disservice,” David turns his attention to the relationship between belief and action, examining how people can become a disservice to themselves and to God when they fail to show up and do what their faith requires of them. The song serves as a wake-up call to believers who have fallen short, encouraging them to reflect on their actions and the commitments that come with their faith.

Musically, “Disservice” draws from Afrobeats, Afropop and contemporary gospel, bringing together melodic arrangements and layered vocal harmonies to deliver its message. The song moves between English, Nigerian Pidgin and Yoruba, allowing David to communicate its central theme through different linguistic expressions while drawing on the richness of African musical traditions.

For David, music is a means of telling stories, sharing personal experiences and communicating messages that people can recognise in their own lives. A committed Christian, he describes his sound as clean, pure and for everyone. His approach places meaningful lyrics and relatable experiences at the centre of his music, with the intention of inspiring listeners through the messages his songs carry.

“Disservice” reflects this approach, using the familiar language of contemporary African music to address a subject central to David’s identity as an artist: the responsibility that comes with faith. Rather than presenting belief as something that exists only in words, the record draws attention to the importance of following through on one’s convictions.

With the release, David Ruah continues to explore the intersection of his Christian beliefs and his musical expression, creating music that invites listeners to engage with its message while connecting with the sounds and languages that shape his identity.

“Disservice” by David Ruah is available now on all major streaming platforms.
