Mazzika Group is an Egyptian music and entertainment company based in Giza, founded and owned by Mohsen Gaber. Gaber started the business in 1974 as a small Cairo music-distribution operation and incorporated it as Mazzika Group in April 2003, building it into recorded-music production and distribution, artist management, digital distribution and mobile value-added services, alongside the Mazzika TV music channel.
The company’s reach in the Arabic-music catalogue market grew substantially after EMI’s 2013 sale and break-up, when Mazzika acquired the Alam El Phan, Soutelphan, Umm Kulthum, Abdel Halim Hafez and Mohammed Abdel Wahab catalogues. Alam El Phan, also owned by Gaber, is a related Cairo media group that manages and produces Arabic-language music records and film alongside Mazzika’s TV operation.
Mazzika is independent, not major-owned: Gaber remains the founder and owner of the group four decades after starting it as a distributor, and company databases list Hesham El Gazzar as CEO. It operates from Dokki, Giza, serving the Egyptian and wider pan-Arab market.
