This week's Publishing Briefs column features Killing Joke, an Adéla collaborator and more publishing signings across the music industry.

More publishing news and signings this week include Tyla Rodrigues at Sony Music Publishing, Will Bundy at Bucks Music Group and more.

Jaz Coleman, frontman and founder of Killing Joke, has signed a worldwide publishing deal with Cooking Vinyl Publishing in partnership with Believe. The deal includes recent songs with Killing Joke, as well as Coelman’s solo and orchestral works.

“Anyone who knows anything about Cooking Vinyl (whether it be the record company or publishing) is well aware that it is operated by individuals with a fanatical blood-red passion for music which dramatically differentiates it from other companes,” Coleman said in a statement. “Subsequently, I am thrilled to announce my signing to Cooking Vinyl Publishing as the most exciting time of my career. My goal is to musically capture the zeitgeist of this unique moment in history with my remaining years.”

Ryan Farley, managing director of Cooking Vinyl Publishing, added, “Jaz is a genuine one-off. Very few artists have reshaped a genre and then gone on to hold their own in the concert hall. His songs with Killing Joke have influenced generations of musicians, and his orchestral work is every bit as ambitious. I’m proud to be working with him, and Carla at North and South Artists, alongside our partners at Believe, as he heads into an exciting new phase of an incredible career.”

Peter McCamley, vp of publishing, said, “Jaz is a legend and it’s an honor to represent him with our partners at Cooking Vinyl Publishing. His influence runs through decades of music, and we’re excited to see what comes next.” — Ariel King

Riley Aki has signed a publishing deal to Prescription Songs, joining the company’s roster. He co-produced Adéla’s debut single, “Homewrecked,” and has collaborated with Slush Puppy, Wes Patrick, aespa and more.

“I’m excited to be signed to Prescription and to be working with the most wonderful A&Rs Brooke Webster and Caitlin LoPilato,” Aki said in a statement. “I would also like to extend my appreciation to my close friend and collaborator, Slush Puppy who introduced me to the amazing team at Rx.”

Webster and LoPilato said in a joint statement, “When Slush Puppy introduced us to Riley, we quickly realized how hardworking, driven and talented he is. It’s clear that he has so much potential and an incredibly bright future ahead. We’re excited to support him as he continues to develop his craft, and even more excited about everything that’s still to come.” — Ariel King
