Columbia Records is a frontline recorded music label of Sony Music Entertainment. Its website carries the notice “Copyright Sony Music Entertainment. All Rights Reserved. COLUMBIA and the ‘Walking Eye’ Design are registered trademarks of Sony Music Entertainment.”
The label carries an artist page for the Nigerian singer Qing Madi at columbiarecords.com/artists/qing-madi/, holding a single item dated 6 February 2023 with a press photograph served from Sony Music Entertainment’s content delivery host. The page was live when this desk fetched it on 7 September 2026.
Columbia does not appear in the phonogram credit on any Qing Madi release obtained. All 15 of the Apple Music collections carrying her lead credit between 14 October 2022 and 12 September 2025 that name a rights holder name JTON Music as owner and Bu Vision LLC as exclusive licensee, on five storefronts checked. MusicBrainz records “Columbia” as one of two labels on the album “I am the Blueprint”, alongside “Jton Music”. A label credit records who released a record; a phonogram credit records who owns or exclusively controls the recording. The two registries are describing different things, and only one of them names Columbia.
In a statement issued on 5 June 2026 JTON Entertainment Limited said it “also has a recording and distribution agreement with Sony Music and Bu Vision”. Neither Sony Music Entertainment nor Columbia Records has published any statement about Qing Madi that this desk has located, and no agreement between any Sony entity and JTON has been obtained.
