Songdis

Songdis is a Lagos-headquartered, self-serve music distribution and publishing platform founded by Melody Nehemiah and Obed Ugwu, with an MVP launched in December 2024. It distributes to more than 200 streaming platforms, collects publishing royalties, and layers on AI-assisted release tools, real-time analytics, automated royalty splits and local-currency payouts, positioning itself as “the Operating System for Artists & Labels.”

Nehemiah’s motivation traces to his work promoting an independent Nigerian artist whose song struggled to monetise on distributors that required PayPal accounts or dollar cards many Nigerian artists could not access; he partnered with developer Ugwu to build Songdis in response. The company was one of five winners of the 2025 NBA Africa Triple-Double Accelerator, earning a place in Carnegie Mellon University Africa’s Business Incubation Program. It is independently founder-owned; no outside investor or acquisition has been reported.

AfrobeatsWire’s own reporting on Nigeria’s self-serve distributors flagged an inconsistency in Songdis’ published terms: its pricing page and terms of service use different plan names, with a stated 0 per cent retention on Starter/Growth tiers rising to 10 per cent on the Professional tier.
