Audiomack Payout Per Stream: The Number Nobody Has Actually Measured

Audiomack does not publish a per-stream payout rate, and no distributor statement or industry tracker this desk checked contains one either. The unofficial estimates that circulate instead, checked across four separate artist-services sources, run from $0.0001 to $0.005 per stream depending on which guide and which audience mix you read, a fifty-to-one spread that no one at Audiomack has ever put a name to. That gap, between what people search for under “Audiomack payout per stream” and what anyone has actually measured, is the finding here.

So what is the Audiomack payout per stream, really?#

Audiomack’s Monetization Program, AMP, pays creators through a formula rather than a rate card. A creator’s payout is their monetized streams multiplied by that month’s “Revenue Per Stream”, which is net advertising and Audiomack+ subscription revenue divided by total platform streams, multiplied again by the creator’s 50 per cent share. A separate Supporters feature, where fans buy digital badges, pays creators 85 per cent of what a fan contributes. Neither figure is a fixed dollar amount per play. Both are shares of a pool whose size changes every month, which is exactly why a fixed “Audiomack payout per stream” cannot exist as a matter of how the program is built, not as a number Audiomack happens to withhold.

To qualify for AMP at all, a creator needs an authenticated profile, at least 100 followers, at least 50,000 plays in the trailing six months, and at least two original tracks. Once qualified, cash-out requires a $50 balance and clears on a 90-day lag, so streams earned in a given month are not paid out until three months later. This desk could not retrieve Audiomack’s own help-centre article directly (it returned an access error on the day checked), so these mechanics are recorded here as they are reproduced, consistently and independently, across three separate secondary sources rather than read from Audiomack’s own page. A fourth source, used only for the per-stream estimate rows below, segments its planning range by audience rather than giving one figure for every artist.

Per-1,000-stream payout: measured platforms vs. the midpoint of Audiomack's unofficial estimates

Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and Amazon Music are Duetti's measured 2024 global payout rate. The Audiomack bar is the midpoint of a $0.10 to $5.00 per 1,000 unofficial range; Audiomack publishes no equivalent figure of its own.

Set next to the four platforms this desk can actually measure, or measure at second hand through an annual accounting of distributor statements, the unofficial guesses for Audiomack span $0.10 to $5.00 per 1,000 streams, a range wide enough to sit below Spotify’s measured $3.00, straddle it, or beat Apple Music’s measured $6.20, depending on which guide you happen to read. YouTube measured $4.80 and Amazon Music $8.80 over the same year. That is the actual finding in this chart: the Audiomack bar is not a rate, it is the midpoint of a disagreement fifty times wide, wide enough to overlap almost any measured platform’s rate by construction. That is a property of how little the trackers agree, not evidence Audiomack pays like any platform on the left.

Why the model looks like Spotify’s, not a jukebox’s#

The mechanics under AMP, a pool of revenue divided by total streams and paid out pro rata, are the same shape as how Spotify and YouTube describe their own royalty pools, and Spotify has publicly objected to any platform being reduced to a single per-stream number on exactly those grounds. The practical difference is the size and composition of Audiomack’s pool. Audiomack is free to use, ad-supported for the large majority of its listening, and weighted toward African and diaspora audiences where digital ad rates are lower than in North America or Western Europe, according to the same sources that describe the AMP mechanics. An artist streamed heavily out of Lagos, where Audiomack’s Nigerian user base is concentrated, can carry more total plays on Audiomack than on Spotify and still see a smaller monthly Revenue Per Stream, because the ad pool those plays are drawing from is smaller per play, not because the 50 per cent creator share has changed.

Distribution route matters on top of that. An artist who uploads directly to Audiomack and clears AMP keeps the full 50 per cent share themselves. An artist whose release reaches Audiomack through a label or a distributor has that 50 per cent split again before it reaches them, on terms set by whatever agreement they signed, which is a separate deduction from anything AMP itself pays out.

The counter-reading: even the platforms with a number do not agree by much#

Before leaning on the comparison above, this desk re-ran the four measured 2024 platform rates with the largest dropped, because a midpoint comparison is only as sound as the four points behind it.

Amazon Music alone accounts for 38.6 per cent of the four platforms’ combined 2024 rate. Drop it, and the mean measured rate falls by close to a fifth. So “what a measured per-stream rate looks like” is itself carried by one comparatively generous platform, not a stable industry figure. If that is true of the four platforms with an actual measured number behind them, treat the Audiomack range, built from guides that do not even agree with each other by a factor of fifty, with more scepticism, not less.

What this means for an artist or a label#

Do not budget a release against any single Audiomack payout per stream figure quoted online, general or audience-segmented; the guides this desk checked do not agree with each other by a factor of fifty, and none of them is Audiomack’s own published number, because Audiomack has not published one. Watch your own AMP dashboard’s Revenue Per Stream month to month instead of a blog’s range, since that figure is specific to your streams’ actual listener markets and to that month’s ad pool, and it will move. If a label or distributor sits between you and Audiomack, ask them in writing what share of Audiomack income they keep before the AMP 50 per cent ever reaches you, because that cut is negotiated deal by deal and is not disclosed by AMP’s own terms. And if you are close to the 100-follower, 50,000-play threshold, know that AMP eligibility is binary: nothing is paid on monetizable streams until you clear it, however large your catalogue is below that line.
