Big Concerts is a South African live entertainment promoter founded in 1989 by Attie van Wyk. It promotes concert tours, festivals, theatre and sporting events in South Africa, and has staged shows for international acts including Beyonce, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and Bruce Springsteen, as well as the country’s first major post-apartheid international concert, a 1992 Paul Simon show marking the end of the cultural boycott.
Live Nation Entertainment acquired a controlling interest in Big Concerts in 2016, after working with the company since 2009. Founder Attie van Wyk and his son Justin van Wyk, who serves as CEO, continued to run the business day to day. No source reviewed discloses the exact size of Live Nation’s stake.
Big Concerts sits alongside Live Nation’s other African ticketing and promotion interests, including South African ticketing platform Quicket, which Live Nation’s Ticketmaster acquired in 2024. It remains the only African promoter to appear on Pollstar’s global top-100 promoters list.
