TCV (Technology Crossover Ventures) is a US growth-equity investment firm based in Menlo Park, California, founded in 1995 and led by co-founder and general partner Jay Hoag. TCV was an early shareholder in Believe SA, the French-listed music distributor, before selling part of its position in a 2024 block trade via TCV Luxco BD S.a r.l. It then joined a consortium with Believe founder Denis Ladegaillerie and EQT that took Believe private, completing a squeeze-out and delisting on 5 August 2025.
TCV does not operate in music distribution directly. Its relevance to this directory is as a continuing controlling shareholder of Believe and its subsidiary TuneCore, which runs dedicated Africa operations, launched February 2021, across Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania and other markets. As with EQT, TCV’s African relevance is indirect: it sits upstream of a distribution business used by African artists and labels.
