Spotlighting Independent South African Artists
Global hip-hop star French Montana is heading to South Africa this December for two exclusive headline performances as part of the launch of the new AFROTRAX live event series. Presented in partnership with PLAYY. Music, the rapper will perform at The Ostrich in Cape Town on 4 December, before heading to The Canvas in Johannesburg on 5 December. Best known for hits including Unforgettable, No Stylist, Pop That and Ain’t Worried About Nothin’, French Montana has collaborated with artists including Drake, The Weeknd, Cardi B, Post Malone, Chris Brown and Swae Lee throughout his career.
AFROTRAX has been conceived as a new platform celebrating the intersection of African music, fashion, culture and global entertainment. Alongside French Montana’s performances, both events promise full-scale festival experiences featuring local artists and DJs, food vendors, lifestyle activations and premium hospitality experiences, with additional acts and programming set to be announced in the coming weeks. “AFROTRAX represents a new chapter in African live entertainment,” the organisers said. “Our vision is to build a platform that celebrates African culture while connecting audiences with some of the most influential artists in the world.”
The Cape Town edition takes place at The Ostrich from 2pm to midnight on Friday, 4 December, while the Johannesburg event follows at The Canvas from 2pm to 11pm on Saturday, 5 December. Tickets and VIP packages will be available exclusively through PLAYY., with fans encouraged to register in advance for priority access and event updates. Sign up here.
