ginius Releases New Project Here’s Where We Once Were

British-Ghanaian artist and producer ginius has released a new project, Here’s Where We Once Were, a collection of songs built around love, uncertainty, and heartbreak.

The release is a personal one for ginius, who said the material comes from experiences she has lived rather than imagined. Across the project, she traces relationships from early attraction through doubt, emotional distance, and eventual acceptance.

“This is probably the realest tape I ever wrote,” ginius said. “Some of the songs I have written prior to this I had not lived but this is a tape that every part has once been my reality. It’s the beginning of the end; simply put.”

Here’s Where We Once Were draws on Afro R&B, Amapiano, and ginius’ own “afro blend” sound. Her approach combines Ghanaian Highlife influences with contemporary Afropop and R&B, reflecting her British-Ghanaian background.
