Trace is a media group dedicated to Afro-urban music and culture, founded in 2003 by Olivier Laouchez when he renamed MCM Africa as Trace TV. It is headquartered in France, so it is not an African company, but it runs one of the largest African-facing music-media operations in the world.

Trace qualifies for this directory on a material, named African operation: it runs a family of African music television channels, the Trace Academia skills platform and regional offices across the continent, including in Abidjan, Dakar, Kinshasa, Lagos and Johannesburg, and launched Trace Urban for anglophone West Africa with a local team.

It matters as the dominant pan-African music broadcaster and a major promoter of Afrobeats, Amapiano and Francophone African music across television, digital and events.
