Wizkid Announced as First Headliner for Detty December Fest 2026 in Lagos

Nigerian Grammy-winning Wizkid will headline the opening night of Detty December Fest 2026 in Lagos, Nigeria, on December 18. The performance kicks off a two-week celebration of music, culture, food, fashion and entertainment running through December 30.

The festival is produced by Livespot360, the entertainment company behind Cardi B’s historic performances in Nigeria and Ghana. Tickets are already available through official festival channels, with more headline acts expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Wizkid’s headline slot follows a relatively low-key year. In January, he teamed up with Asake on the joint EP Real, Vol. 1, before turning to collaborations with artists from different musical backgrounds. He spent much of 2025 touring in support of his 2024 album Morayo, which peaked at No. 4 on Billboard’s World Albums chart. Subsequent singles include “Dynamite” with Tyla and “Gimme Dat” with Ayra Starr; the latter earned a nomination for Best African Music Performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

The 2026 edition introduces a major format change with the addition of a second stage. Wizkid will perform on the main Festival Stage, while the new Pulse Stage will spotlight emerging artists, fresh sounds and rising talents shaping the next generation of African music. According to Livespot co-founder and chief creative officer Darey Art Alade, the new stage reflects the growing global influence of African music and creates more opportunities for younger artists.

“This platform will allow emerging performers to share the festival with established stars and contribute to the continued growth of Africa’s music ecosystem,” he said.

More headliners and performers are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
