Vector steps away from rap bravado on Dad & Dot, a reflective single built around the emotional layers of fatherhood. With Cynthia Ifie on the hook, the song trades chest-beating for vulnerability. It deals with parental responsibility, legacy and family, in a way that fits a rapper who has spoken openly about raising his daughters and who explored his late father’s influence on the album Teslim: The Energy Still Lives in Me.
Cynthia Ifie is the record’s emotional anchor. Her soulful hook lifts the arrangement and wraps Vector’s verses in a rich, gospel-tinged atmosphere that builds gradually. She gives his structured bars a softer counterweight, and the chemistry between them feels unforced, rooted in a shared love of emotive storytelling.
The production supports that mood without crowding it. Soft acoustic instrumentation meets mellow hip-hop drum loops, with subtle strings and warm electric piano keys adding depth. The deliberate pacing gives Vector room to work through his multi-syllabic rhyme schemes while keeping the central message clear. Every line lands with weight.
Dad & Dot, which runs about three minutes and fifty seconds, continues Vector’s habit of tackling real-life themes through hip-hop. It balances conceptual lyricism with broad musical accessibility and offers grown-up listeners a thoughtful alternative to club fare. It also reinforces his standing as one of Nigeria’s most versatile rap voices.
