Suno has debuted its v6 model suite this morning, a three-model offering that includes licensed inputs and revenue-sharing support from Warner Music Group and BMG.

The launch comprises a main v6 flagship model for subscribers, a v6-wild model described as “less predictable,” and v6-mini for free accounts. v6-mini is billed as “a faster, more efficient version available to everyone” but does not include downloads or commercial rights. The release marks a shift toward licensed inputs and away from unlicensed versions that have drawn lawsuits from Universal Music Group.

v6 model lineup and features#

Suno describes the v6 suite as its “best yet.” Features include:

  • v6 flagship model for subscribers
  • v6-wild, described as “less predictable”
  • v6-mini for free accounts, without downloads or commercial rights
  • Multi-song mashup options
  • Audio generation from “a vibe, genre or mix of inspirations”
  • Isolation tools to update a single lyric without rebuilding the entire song

Revenue sharing and executive response#

An internal email from CEO Robert Kyncl, who also posted a similar message on X, framed v6 as “a milestone in our mission to protect our artists and songwriters and bring them opportunity in a rapidly changing world.”

“Starting today, our artists and songwriters will share in the revenue generated by Suno’s more than 2 million, and growing, paying subscribers.”

Kyncl also referenced digital service providers (DSPs).

“This new creation-based revenue stream will only grow as our other partners, from DSPs like Spotify to startups like Udio, Klay and Stability, launch their own AI-powered fan-engagement tiers and platforms that allow fans to remix and interact with music they know and love.”

Artist-specific products and early reception#

Early customer reaction to v6 has been mixed. Some users have criticized the models and said they plan to leave Suno, while others have offered more positive assessments. The net impact on Suno’s subscriber count remains to be seen, and Warner Music Group’s revenue impact from the arrangement is expected to be visible in future earnings reports.

Suno said artist-specific AI products are next on its roadmap. The precise timetable is unclear, and artists must opt in first. The company described the features as “opt-in experiences built around individual artists, where artists can choose to participate and get paid when they do, and fans get new ways to connect with the artists they love.”
