South Africa’s Music Exchange (MEX) will return to Cape Town on 31 October 2026 as part of FAME Week Africa.

The 16th edition of the South African music business conference will take place at the Protea Fire & Ice Hotel under the theme “Navigating Today’s Entertainment Economy: Strategies, Skills and Opportunities for Success.”

Programme and speakers#

Sessions will feature speakers from South Africa and abroad, covering areas that include music publishing, artist management, sync licensing, branding, entrepreneurship and the impact of AI on the music business.

Annabell Lebethe, CEO of SAMRO (Southern African Music Rights Organisation), will deliver the keynote address titled “The Future of the Entertainment Economy.”

She will be joined by SAMRO senior leadership members Karabo Senna, Chola Makgamathe, Lesego Maforah and Nobambo Goduka for a panel discussion titled “From Rights to Revenue,” which will examine rights management, royalty collection and opportunities for creators.

MEX is designed to provide practical knowledge and industry connections alongside discussions about the changing entertainment economy.

FAME Week Africa access#

Its inclusion in FAME Week Africa will give delegates access to four days of talks, networking and other industry activities running from Wednesday to Saturday.
