South African bassist, vocalist, songwriter and music director AusTebza will take the stage at Untitled Basement in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, on 29 August as part of the HER: Divas in Concert Women’s Month series.
Born Tebogo Sedumedi, she began playing bass at 15 after her band needed a bassist. That decision led to a 12-year stint with the late HHP’s band, during which she performed alongside several artists:
- Simphiwe Dana
- Bucie
- Wouter Kellerman
- ProVerb
After years of contributing to other artists’ projects, AusTebza has increasingly focused on her solo career. She has released two albums and developed a sound shaped by African musical traditions, traditional 6/8 rhythms and personal storytelling.
The Braamfontein performance is part of the second season of HER: Divas in Concert, a collaboration between Divas in Concert and Untitled Basement that showcases established and emerging South African women musicians.
The concert will feature two sets of approximately 45 to 60 minutes, separated by a 15-minute interval. Reserved seating will be available.
