Primary Wave Partners With Savage Garden’s Daniel Jones in Australia

Primary Wave Music has partnered with Daniel Jones on his Savage Garden songwriting catalog.

Daniel Jones and Primary Wave Music

Independent music publishing company Primary Wave Music has entered a partnership with Daniel Jones, the Australian singer-songwriter and producer known as one half of Savage Garden.

The agreement covers Jones’s songwriting catalog across Savage Garden’s two studio albums and gives him access to Primary Wave’s global publishing infrastructure, including:

  • creative marketing
  • digital strategy
  • synchronization
  • brand partnerships
  • film and television opportunities

Catalog includes international hits#

The catalog includes some of Savage Garden’s biggest international hits. Jones co-wrote the duo’s catalog with vocalist Darren Hayes, including ‘To the Moon and Back’ and ‘Truly Madly Deeply.’

Primary Wave’s Mark Shimmel said:

Having followed the Australian music scene for many years, it’s a privilege to help bring Daniel Jones and his incredible catalog of songs into the Primary Wave family. Savage Garden’s music continues to resonate with audiences around the world, and we’re excited to help create new opportunities for these timeless songs.

Awards and later careers#

In 1997, Savage Garden won a record 10 ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Awards from 13 nominations, including Album of the Year, Best Group, and Single of the Year for ‘Truly Madly Deeply.’ More recently, the duo was inducted into the APRA AMCOS (Australasian Performing Right Association and Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society) Billions Club, largely built from the success of ‘Truly Madly Deeply,’ which was also one of their two U.S. No. 1 hits.

The duo split in 2001. Hayes went on to release five solo studio albums. Jones largely stepped away from public life, focusing on family, business interests, and selected creative projects.

The Savage Garden catalog continues to be heard around the world and remains a significant part of pop music history.
