Nigerian artist Maureen Adenike Okoye, known professionally as Nikz, has released a three-track EP titled “MARS.”
The project explores warmth, movement, and reassurance through expressive instrumentation, combining guitars, percussion, piano, horns, and Amapiano textures into a sound that is both vibrant and intimate.
“Spot” opens the EP with a bright, celebratory groove and pairs playful melodies with a sense of forward motion. “Rora” moves into a deeper arrangement, layering heavy bass and Amapiano percussion with piano, expressive trumpets, and guitar to create one of the project’s richest moments.
Across “MARS,” Nikz lets the instruments interact naturally rather than adding unnecessary elements. The result is a concise project that balances movement with reflection, using melody and texture to communicate emotion.
