Nigerian Afrogospel artist Gaise Baba has released a 13-track album titled God Is Cooking. The project combines faith, Nigerian musical heritage and contemporary African sounds.
Album details and collaborators
The opening track interpolates the work of late Nigerian hip-hop pioneer Dagrin and includes a sample from JJ Ransome-Kuti. The album was conceived in part as a tribute to the legacy and cultural philosophy of the Kuti musical tradition.
The project includes a collaboration with Kae Strings on an Afro-house record.

Musical range and themes
The album moves between Afrogospel, Afro-house, hip-hop influences and Nigerian musical heritage. It maintains the faith-driven perspective associated with Gaise Baba’s work.
The album’s central question is what happens when an artist understands where his music comes from but is not limited by it. Gaise Baba’s answer is a body of work that looks backward and forward at the same time, honouring earlier artists and sounds while creating something distinct.
Rather than treating faith and contemporary African music as separate worlds, God Is Cooking presents them as parts of the same cultural conversation.
Gaise Baba is a Nigerian Afrogospel artist whose music explores spirituality, identity, storytelling and popular culture.
God Is Cooking is available now on all major streaming platforms.
