MÖRDA

South African producer MÖRDA has released Asante IV, the fourth instalment in his Asante album series. The 19-track project, out on July 31, 2026, combines Afro-house, electronic music, soulful melodies and layered African rhythms.

The album continues the arc of the earlier Asante releases while reflecting MÖRDA’s development as a producer, composer and collaborator. It moves between dancefloor-focused tracks and more reflective material, aimed at clubs, festival stages and home listening.

Collaborators and sound#

The project features a roster of collaborators:

  • DJ Zinhle
  • Brenden Praise
  • Chronical Deep
  • Mo-T
  • !Sooks
  • Kitchen Mess
  • LaTique
  • Meguel
  • Suffocate

Several of MÖRDA’s longtime creative partners also appear on the record.

Across the 19 tracks, the album is built on intricate percussion, atmospheric production, uplifting grooves and expressive vocal performances. MÖRDA keeps a cohesive sonic identity throughout, so the project reads as one continuous musical journey.

“Asante IV is another chapter in a journey that continues to grow with every release,” MÖRDA said. “This project represents gratitude, collaboration and musical freedom. I wanted to create something that moves people physically, emotionally and spiritually, while continuing to explore new sounds without losing the essence of what Asante has always stood for.”

Career milestones#

MÖRDA has won multiple South African Music Awards and received a Grammy nomination and NAACP Image Award recognition for his contribution to The Color Purple soundtrack. His catalogue includes the double-platinum-certified Asante and gold-certified Moya Wa Taola.

He has also performed an NPR Tiny Desk Concert, received multiple Metro FM Music Award nominations, and was named a GQ South Africa Editor’s Choice Best Dressed honouree.

The Asante series#

The Asante series has become central to MÖRDA’s artistic identity, exploring the intersection of African electronic music, emotion and collaboration. Each instalment pushes his production in new directions while maintaining the cultural and musical foundations of the series.

Asante IV combines movement, emotion and musical experimentation, reflecting MÖRDA’s artistic growth and his continued work in African dance music.
