Mediaplanet Launches Women vs. Cancer Campaign in the Los Angeles Times to Advance Awareness, Early Detection and Advocacy

National campaign features ESPN broadcaster and cervical cancer survivor Erin Andrews alongside leading women’s cancer organizations and experts

NEW YORK, Sept. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Mediaplanet today announces the national launch of its Women vs. Cancer campaign, publishing Sunday, September 20, within the Los Angeles Times. The campaign brings together leading voices in women’s cancer to raise awareness around symptoms, earlier detection, advances in treatment and the importance of women advocating for their health.

ESPN broadcaster and cervical cancer survivor Erin Andrews serves as the campaign’s cover feature, sharing her personal experience with cervical cancer and the lessons she gained throughout her diagnosis and treatment. Andrews highlights the importance of listening to your body, staying up to date with recommended screenings and speaking up when something doesn’t feel right.

The campaign features perspectives from leading organizations and experts across the women’s cancer landscape, including the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, Foundation for Women’s Cancers, Milken Institute Women’s Health Network, National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), National Ovarian Cancer Coalition and more. Together, their insights explore the evolving landscape of prevention, diagnosis, precision care, research and survivorship.

As women’s cancer care continues to advance, the campaign examines how increasingly personalized and precise approaches are shaping the future of treatment. At the same time, Women vs. Cancer addresses an ongoing challenge: helping women recognize potential warning signs earlier and feel empowered to ask questions, seek answers and advocate for appropriate care.

“Women deserve access to information that can help them understand their health and feel empowered to advocate for themselves,” said Shannon Ruggiero, Sr. Director of Health Campaigns. “Through the Women vs. Cancer campaign, we are bringing together survivors, experts and leading organizations to highlight the progress being made in women’s cancer care while reinforcing the importance of awareness, early detection and informed conversations with healthcare providers.”

The campaign will extend beyond its Los Angeles Times distribution to reach women, patients, advocates and healthcare professionals directly within cancer communities across the country. More than 2,500 additional copies will be distributed by the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition at its Together in TEAL Run/Walks throughout the fall. The Foundation for Women’s Cancer will also distribute copies at its Race to End Women’s Cancer and Patient & Advocate Education Forum in Washington, D.C., taking place Sunday, September 20.

Through national media distribution and direct engagement at cancer-focused events, Women vs. Cancer aims to connect readers with information and resources while amplifying the voices of those working to improve outcomes for women affected by cancer.

The Women vs. Cancer campaign is available in the September 20, 2026, issue of the Los Angeles Times and online through Mediaplanet’s digital platform.
