UNAC-SA
Angola's public collective management society for authors, performers and producers, based in Luanda.
UNAC-SA (Sociedade de Autores) is a public collective management entity for authors, performers and producers of music, dance, theatre and audiovisual works in Angola, headquartered in Luanda. It is certified by the copyright service under Angola’s Ministry of Culture to represent, license, collect and distribute royalties on behalf of Angolan rightsholders, and it is the only Angolan authors’ society that holds CISAC membership.
The society’s record has not been uninterrupted. In August 2024, Angola’s national copyright service, SENADIAC, suspended UNAC-SA and a related body, AUDAC, from collecting and distributing royalties, citing irregularities in their financial reporting. The suspension was lifted roughly a year later: in September 2025, Culture Minister Filipe Zau reversed the SENADIAC decision for UNAC-SA and AUDAC following an appeal, while a third body, SADIA, remained suspended and had its licence to administer copyright not renewed. No public reporting has surfaced since then on whether UNAC-SA has fully satisfied the compliance issues SENADIAC originally raised.
UNAC-SA’s services span licensing, royalty collection and distribution, work registration, issuing professional cards and IPI numbers, and representing members in disputes, covering the core of how Angolan musicians and other creators get paid for the use of their work.
