Ultima Studios is a Lagos-based television and media production company, trading since 1986 as Ultima Limited. Its production slate spans general entertainment formats, including the Nigerian versions of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and Family Feud, alongside two long-running music properties: Project Fame West Africa, a regional music talent show running since 2008, and Next Afrobeats Star, a newer recording-deal competition produced for MTN Nigeria.

Ultima operates U-Records, described on the Next Afrobeats Star competition site as its in-house music label, which partnered with distributor ONErpm to fund the winner’s record deal on that show. Ultima’s own corporate site does not mention U-Records, so its standing as an operating subsidiary rests on the competition’s materials and trade coverage rather than Ultima’s own filings. BellaNaija has named Femi Ayeni as Ultima’s Chairman and Chief Executive.

The company is included here for its role producing music-talent formats and running U-Records, not as a pure-play record label or distributor; its wider business is general TV and radio production, including the Lagos station 88.5 UFM.
