Sony Music Entertainment Middle East

Sony Music Entertainment Middle East FZ LLC is Sony Music Entertainment’s regional recorded-music operation for the Middle East and North Africa, registered and based in Dubai Media City. Sony Music opened the Dubai operation in 2009, initially to market its existing international roster into the region, and has since built an Arabic-repertoire business alongside it. The company’s own site describes its territory as a market of countries including Egypt, Pakistan, the Levant and the GCC.

The company is wholly owned by Sony Music Entertainment and is a major-label subsidiary rather than an independent. Rami Mohsen, previously head of music for the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia at Spotify, was appointed managing director in July 2023 and reports to Shridhar Subramaniam, Sony Music’s president for Asia and the Middle East.

Egypt is the African market in its stated remit, and the company’s African relevance rests on Egyptian repertoire rather than on any African office or ownership. In October 2024 it acquired the recorded music catalogue of Amr Diab, together with a forward-looking multi-album deal for future recordings; terms were not disclosed. It lists the Egyptian singer Nathalie Saba on its roster. In September 2025 AWAL, Sony Music’s services company for independent artists, began operating in the region from a Dubai base set up in partnership with Sony Music Middle East, led by the company’s A&R director Issa Outa, and opened with the signing of Egyptian artist Wegz and his label Raad Records. No separate Egyptian operating entity or office has been announced.
