Sol Generation Records is a Kenyan record label based in Nairobi, launched in 2019 by the Afropop group Sauti Sol. It was set up to sign and develop a new generation of Kenyan artists under an artist-run label.
The label is independent and owned by the members of Sauti Sol. Its early signings included Bensoul, Nviiri the Storyteller and Crystal Asige, and it runs Sol Generation TV as a hub for its music videos and sessions.
It matters as one of the more visible artist-owned labels in East Africa, an attempt by an established act to build local infrastructure rather than route talent through outside companies.
