Select Musiek

Select Musiek is a South African record label specialising in Afrikaans-language popular and country music, operating today as a division of Sony Music Entertainment Africa (Pty) Ltd. Its roster has included Kurt Darren, Brendan Peyper, Ricus Nel, Refentse, Andriette, Adam Tas and Krone.

Sony Music Entertainment Africa managing director Sean Watson has stated on the record that the company “acquired local label Select Musiek” as part of strengthening its investment in South African repertoire. No acquisition date, price or terms have been found in any document checked.

Select Musiek continues to operate under its own name and signs its own artists, including through a talent-competition prize of an exclusive one-song development recording agreement run with radio station OFM in 2025, where it was described in trade press as “a division of Sony Music Entertainment Africa.”
