Rockstar4000 Music Entertainment is a South African music and entertainment company founded in 2009 by Jandre Louw, formerly of MTV Base Africa, and based in Sandton. In its active years it billed itself as a pan-African music, events and talent-management company and ran an exclusive distribution and marketing partnership with Sony Music Entertainment across Africa, functioning as a de facto A&R arm for Sony’s expansion into the continent.
Its roster through the early-to-mid 2010s included the Tanzanian star Alikiba, alongside Ghanaian and Kenyan acts such as Samini, Richie, Asem, Eazzy, OJ Blaq, Tic Tac and MadTraxx. Alikiba’s phonogram credits carry the company’s name, under the variant strings “Rockstar4000 Tanzania Limited” and “Rockstar Africa Label & Management”, as late as 2023.
The company is independent; no parent or acquirer has been reported. It became the subject of a 2023 investigative report into the collapsed 2014 TribeOne: Dinokeng festival in Tshwane, a Sony Music and Rockstar4000 co-production that spent tens of millions of rand in public money before being cancelled two weeks before its opening date. No confirmed operations have been reported since, and it has no live website.
