Mix Records

Mix Records is the label of Ivorian-Beninese coupe-decale artist Mix Premier (Yaovi Emile Joel Claver Sofonnou, also known as DJ Mix), based in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. Music In Africa lists him as active there since 2020, though phonogram credits on his own releases under the Mix Records name date back further, to around 2018.

The label’s clearest evidence of operating beyond a personal credit line is signing rapper Himra early in his career, around 2018, off the strength of Himra’s “OMEGA” mixtape. Older sources, including French Wikipedia, also list an earlier name, Mix Prod (or “Le Mix Prod”), for the same production outfit; current streaming credits through 2026 consistently use Mix Records. No company registry entry or dedicated website has been found; the artist’s own Facebook page names him as founder of Mix Records.

Mix Records is a small, independent, artist-run label within Cote d’Ivoire’s coupe-decale scene, with Mix Premier as its only confirmed constant and Himra as its one documented outside signing.
