Menzgold Ghana Limited was a gold dealership and investment scheme run by Nana Appiah Mensah, widely known as NAM1, that collected deposits from the Ghanaian public in exchange for promised fixed returns on gold trading. Ghana’s Securities and Exchange Commission ordered the company on 3 September 2018 to “stop forthwith, all trading in gold without licence,” a directive signed by Deputy Director General Paul Ababio, effectively ending its public-facing business.
Court testimony given by a police investigator in the criminal case against NAM1 states that Menzgold moved GHS 2,000,000 into Zylofon Media on 20 July 2018, one of several capital transfers the prosecution says had “no justifiable reason.” The investigator’s evidence also describes Menzgold as one of the companies whose deposits, alongside those of the related firm Brew Marketing Consult, were used to fund Zylofon Media’s entertainment business, including its signings of Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.
No source read by this desk establishes Menzgold’s incorporation date, its registered shareholding or its current legal status. Ghana’s Registrar General has no public filing API and no manual search was run. NAM1 has pleaded not guilty to 39 counts including defrauding by false pretences and is on GHS 500 million bail; the trial before Justice Ernest Owusu-Dapaah at the Accra High Court is unresolved.
