Helios Fairfax Partners Corporation is a Toronto Stock Exchange-listed investment company formed in December 2020 from a strategic transaction between Helios Holdings Limited and Fairfax Africa Holdings Corporation. Its stated strategy is Africa-focused investing, and its sports and entertainment portfolio is built entirely around the continent: NBA Africa, The Malachite Group (parent of the Afro Nation festival brand), Zaria and PFL Africa.
Helios Fairfax is publicly traded and reports its holdings through standard annual and interim filings. Its 2024 annual report states the company had put USD 45.0 million of equity and a USD 12.0 million loan facility into its sports and entertainment arm, Helios Sports and Entertainment Group, as of 31 December 2024. Companies House filings separately name Helios Fairfax as the holder of all-assets charges over two Afro Nation-linked UK entities, Event Horizon Entertainment Ltd and Afronation Puerto Rico Ltd, created in May 2022.
The company sits upstream of Afro Nation in the ownership chain: it is described in its own annual report as indirectly controlling The Malachite Group, which in turn wholly owns AFRONATION LTD.
